Waterville Cutlery is pleased to announce the release of its second knife in the Waterville Collection. Custom made by award-winning knife maker, Phil Jacob, it’s a beautiful, single bladed Catalina jig amber bone trapper, 7 3/4″ long in the open position, with Phil’s Roman Knot filework on the backspring and CPM 154 stainless steel blade.

Visit the Blade Show in Atlanta and find your way to Phil’s table before he is sold out and you will see people standing around admiring his filework craftsmanship and trying to find a break between the backspring and the blade.  It is a work of art.  Ask Phil how he did it, and he will simply respond “a lot of time and careful attention to detail”.

It’s no wonder that Phil was recognized as the best new maker at the 2017 Blade Show in Atlanta. And then followed it up in 2018 with the best custom folding knife award at the Blade Show West in Portland, Oregon. And just to hit the trifecta, he was recognized as making the best multi-blade folder by the 2022 Knifemakers Guild at the Blade Show in Texas.

We were delighted when Phil agreed to be one of our first-year knife makers, and to make us 10 of his single bladed trapper with an old propeller shield used by Phil for the first time and exclusively for Waterville Cutlery. To add to the collectibility even more, Phil has put his Roman Knot filework on the back. Combine these beautiful custom features by an award-winning maker, the Waterville brand, and the first year of the custom collection, and you get a rare, highly collectible, slip joint folder.
